45 year old Mercy Ogbedo has been told by a London court that she must pay her Nigerian billionaire ex-husband's £100,000 legal costs after she failed in court to get financial support from him...

A scorned woman who claims she was 'duped' into marrying a billionaire with a secret wife has been told she must pay the tycoon £100,000 by the divorce courts.

Mercy Ogbedo, 45, thought her dreams had come true in 2002 when she went through a picturesque marriage ceremony with Nigerian shipping magnate Moses Taiga. Her feet were washed by village elders and a 'bride price' was paid for her, before the couple drank from the same cup, danced and cut an exotic wedding cake.

But Mrs Ogbedo, from Finchley, north London, who has two children by Mr Taiga, a billionaire who owns a string of London properties, says she discovered later that her husband already had a wife from 1974.

For more than a decade she has been petitioning the British divorce courts for financial support from Mr Taiga's nine-figure fortune.

But last year a divorce judge ruled that despite the mother of two being 'of limited means', she could not be awarded a maintenance from Mr Taiga because he had their marriage voided in Nigeria.

Instead she was ordered to pay £100,000 towards his legal bills. 

Challenging that ruling, her barrister, Timothy Scott QC, said the former couple's lavish 2002 ceremony had 'duped' her into thinking she was a lawfully wedded wife.

The barrister told Appeal Court judge Lord Justice McFarlane that soon after her 'wedding' she discovered that 28 years previously Mr Taiga had married another woman in church in Benin.

            In March 2002 Mrs Ogbedo and Mr Taiga entered into a customary marriage in Nigeria, which would have been
            valid but for the husband's prior marriage. The wife says she was duped,' the QC said.

'She should be permitted to apply for financial relief in England by virtue of that marriage ceremony,' he added.

Mr Taiga, who is also a Grandmaster in the Nigerian arm of the Freemasons, has been pursuing parallel proceedings in the African courts.

Last year a Nigerian court found that the 2002 ceremony was not just invalid but a 'non-marriage' and she has no rights over his fortune.

The Court of Appeal in London has refused to overrule that decision, although Lord Justice McFarlane said he had 'real sympathy' for her predicament and has given her the right to appeal paying his £100,000 legal bill in the latest hearing. 

The full hearing of Mrs Ogbedo's challenge to the costs order will take place at a later date.

A 300 level English Language student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Annabel Nzubechukwu Edeh, who has not been seen since she left a night club with an unknown man 6weeks ago in Awka, Anambra state.

Annabel had gone to the night club with friends on September 17th and as the group of girls prepared to leave, Annabel told her friends she was in need of money so would go home with a guy she'd met at the club and would return to school the following morning. It's been 6 weeks and Annabel hasn't been seen.

They were six girls, who went to Lounge 24 Gaga, a nightclub in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on September 17. They are Calista, Uju, Lovelyn, Ada, Chika and Annabel. All of them are friends and live close to one another. When they returned to their hostels the following morning, one of them – Annabel – could not be found.

Where is Annabel? This was the question classmates of Annabel Nzubechukwu Edeh could not answer. The 300-Level English Language and Literature student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka has not been seen anywhere, 43 days after she went to the night club with her friends.

Was she kidnapped? Is she dead? These are some of the questions being asked by her distraught family members and friends. She is the only girl in a family of three.

Annabel, 24, a native of Enugu State, was last seen on Wednesday, September 17 evening, when she left her Paradise City Hostel in Iyiagu Estate, Awka.

When she was leaving the club, Annabel reportedly left at midnight with a guy she met at the club. That was the last time she was seen.

Annabel’s friend and hostel mate, who simply gave her name as Ifeoma, said after clubbing, the girls decided to find a place to sleep before returning to their hostels. But Annabel, she said, told her friends she wanted to go with Mmiri, a male acquaintance, she met at the club. She was said to have told her friends that she was in need of money, which could have informed her decision to go away with the guy.

When she did not return in the morning, it was learnt that Ada and Chika called Annabel’s phone but were disappointed to hear a male voice claiming to have found the phone on the ground and asked the ‘owner’ to come for it.

Ada and Chika, it was gathered, retrieved the phone and contacted Annabel’s elder brother, Ifeanyi, who reported the matter at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka.

CAMPUSLIFE learnt that Ada and Chika were detained for alleged complicity but were later released on bail.

When contacted on the phone, it was learnt that Mmiri claimed Annabel left his house at 3:30am when she refused to enter his room.

But, after the conversation, Mmiri reportedly switched off his phone and stopped going to a popular bar, where he drinks with his friends. He is nowhere to be found.

Our correspondent’s efforts to speak with Annabel’s friends she went to the nightclub with were futile. All of them declined to comment on the issue.

Annabel’s roommate, Ukamaka, gave an account of what happened when she spoke to CAMPUSLIFE on telephone.

She said: “Annabel told me she was going to the club that evening. Her friends, Ada and Chika, waited in the compound till they were joined by their other friends. I had a premonition of the incident in a dream I had the previous night. I told her not to go to the club but she refused. When the other three girls arrived, they all left together. When she did not return in the morning, I called her line but nobody picked. Later, a man claimed he found it.”

Asked to describe the kind of person Annabel is, Ukamaka said that her roommate is a good Christian and hardworking, saying Annabel is a good tailor. “I believe Annabel is a victim of circumstance,” Ukamaka said.

Ifeanyi said his family remained devastated by the incident. “We are devastated at the moment. When I received the news, I travelled from Onitsha to Awka to report the matter at the police station. The matter is still being attended to at SCID and “B” Division. We have even gone spiritual to seek God’s help to find my missing sister. Our Dad is late but mum is highly disorganised.”

Ifeanyi said the matter had been reported to the UNIZIK management.

When CAMPUSLIFE visited Annabel’s mother in Onitsha, she fought back tears as neighbours consoled her. She said: “I warned my daughter to stay clear of bad friends, but she would not listen. When she was admitted in a hospital a few months ago, my spirit never accepted the kind of girls who visited her. Now, they have done their worst. I can’t see my daughter, now. Where is my only daughter? Annabel was seven months in my womb when my husband died.”

Mrs Edeh said she had consulted a prophet, who confirmed to her that her daughter is alive but held captive somewhere. She claimed that the prophet informed her that it was Annabel’s friends that facilitated her ‘abduction’ and threatened to sue them if her daughter did not return within days.
She added: “All I am asking is the safe return of my daughter. I have no other girl. If she was kidnapped, those holding her would have called us. I am confused. We are only praying to God and hoping that she returns home safe and alive. I am pleading with anyone, who knows her whereabouts, to give useful information that can help us to locate her.”

24yr old British-Nigerian lady, Joy Williams (pictured above) has died after a failed £2,000 butt enlargement surgery in Bangkok, Thailand. The young lady's older brother, Anietie, who lives in Nigeria, said the family didn't even know she'd traveled to Thailand.

"We don't really know what went wrong, we only know what is in reports in the media." Anietie said

He also said that the family is making preparations to bring her body home. According to the UK Daily Mail, Joy, who relocated to the UK from Nigeria in 2007 and lives with her mother in Thamesmead, died on October 23rd after visiting a clinic called SP Clinic in Thailand which she had found on the internet. Doctor Sompob Sansiri, 51, is lead away by police after Miss Williams died at his clinic

She initially visitied to the SP clinic, which she found on the internet, on October 14 to have the operation which she hoped would give her a bigger, fuller bottom.

A few days later her wounds became infected and she returned to have corrective surgery to remove the silicon implants.

But she was found dead on the operating table with a three inch-long stitched incision on her tail bone after medical staff found they were unable to resuscitate her.

Thai officials investigating her death believe her operation had been delayed to ensure Miss Williams had not eaten anything beforehand and that as a result the operation began after the clinic's legal closing time of 7pm.

It is believed Miss Williams had long struggled with her self-esteem and been bullied at school before choosing to undergo an operation on her nose to improve her looks.

Doctor Sompob Sansiri claimed to have trained in the U.S. and been practicing since 1998, but he is now facing ten years behind bars

While in Bangkok she had been staying at the £11-a-night Vabua Asotel hotel which is used by the clinic as accommodation for its patients.

The doctor who carried out the procedure, Sompob Sansiri, 51, was later arrested and accused of negligence after it was found that he had been carrying out night-time surgery without a licence.

He has now been charged with recklessness causing death and could face 10 years in jail if found guilty.

The clinic has been closed for 60 days while investigations are carried out. Thailand is a world-leader in cosmetic surgery tourism with many companies offering procedures at discounts of up to 60 per cent. The industry earned the country £2.68billion in 2013 alone.

Woman Arrested With Cocaine In Her Private Part In Miami Airport

                  26-year-old South Florida woman, KathyAnn Ferguson, was arrested by security personnel at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Miami shortly after her flight from Jamaica arrived at the airport and during a search on her, it was discovered that she had the drug hidden in her private parts.

Ferguson, from Hollywood, was charged with cocaine trafficking and later released on bond.

The  Broward Sheriff's Office, BSO, released a press statement to that effect.

She was stopped when a Customs and Border Patrol agent noticed something unusual about her, she was questioned, admitted to having cocaine on her body. She had inserted it in her private parts.

The BSO said Ferguson pulled out a cylindrical-shaped, plastic-wrapped package from her vagina that contained around six ounces of cocaine. Since the initial reports, Ferguson has bonded out of jail. The BSO said this is a crime that is happening on a regular basis.

Wife Plan With Pastor And Killed Husband

                   45-year-old Nwebonyi Nwuguru, a native of Edukwu Inyima community of Ebonyi State, whose wife, Roseline (picture above), with the General Overseer of Divine Salvation Ministry, Pastor Amos Odorimo (picture above), plan to kill him, even after Nwuguru had donated an hectare of land to the church to build an auditorium.

The pastor did not see the deceased kindness to mean anything as he had to kill him so as to continue the love affair between him and the wife of Nwuguru.

According to news reports, Nwuguru didn’t initially raise eyebrows over the long hours his wife spent at the church because he thought she was attending to the things of God. Little did he know that the pastor was going beyond his divine commission, administering to the woman's body instead of her soul.

When Nwuguru got wind of the strong and deep romantic relationship between his wife and Odorimo, he naturally screamed blue murder. With their love affair known to Nwuguru, Odorimo and Roseline were deeply rattled, but refused entreaties to end the re­lationship.

On September 30, 2014, the unsuspecting Nwu­guru decided to visit his farm. Promptly, Odorimo offered to give him a ride on his motor­cycle. Along the way Odorimo stopped and dismounted from the motorcycle, and brought out a sharp machete and cut down his rival in cold blood.

At the headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Ebonyi State Police Command where Pastor Odorimo and Roseline are being held as inves­tigation into the alleged murder continues, Odorimo spoke with Sunday Sun.

I am married and have five children. The deceased Nwebo­nyi Nwugwu was nice to me. He gave me a hectare of land to build my church. His wife, Roseline Nwuguru attended my church. 

It was from there that I started having love affair with her. When the love was getting deep, we found out that the de­ceased was disturbing us and we have to plan for him.

On the day I killed him, I took deceased’s cutlass and cut him on the head. His wife also hit him on the head with a big stick. He died on the spot and we ran away to Benue State, but men of the local vigilance group arrested us and handed us over to the police.

An unrepentant Roseline Nwuguru, who hails from Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, corroborated the account of Odorimo said: 

I have seven children for my late husband. He stopped people from entering the church because he had misunderstanding with Pastor Odorimo. 

Actually I was having a love affair with Pastor Odorimo. I don’t regret my action and joining in killing my husband. He was a wicked man, because he prevented people from entering the church.

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Maigari Dikko has assured that the suspects would have their day in court once the police conclude investigations.

Shock: Wife Killed Husband In Ebonyi

25 year old Blessing Onyibe Nwogbagami, has been arrested by Ebonyi state Police command for killing her husband, Mr Onwe Nwogbagami, near their home at Ojegbe Amike Ugbodo, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

The mother of one attacked her husband with a cutlass while he was sleeping at an uncompleted building on October 13th. Explaining why she killed her husband, Blessing told Sunday Sun

"My hus­band was fond of chasing me with cutlass whenever we have misunderstanding. Whenever he brings out his cutlass, I will run out of the house for him. On that particular day, October 13, I had a misunderstanding with him and immediately he picked up his cutlass and chased me out of the house. Later he went to an uncompleted building to sleep. Then I said to myself before my husband will kill me, let me kill him first. While he was asleep I went to where he kept his cutlass and killed him. Then I ran to my husband’s village and told the kins­men that I killed my husband.” she said

The Assis­tant Commissioner of Police in-charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Mrs. Justina Ogbodo, said Blessing will be charged to court while the baby will be handed to the state welfare board.

Female Student Ear Bitten Off During Fight With Rival In Lagos

                      A female student of Lagos State Polytechnic Bola, is regretting why she got into a fight with another woman over a man, as she had her right ear bitten off in the cause of the fight.

The sad incidence which happened in Ikorodu area of the state, was said to have triggered off when Bola accused the other lady of sleeping with her man. The two who are said to be neighbours, went into a hot argument which lead into fighting that had Bola's ear bitten off by her rival.

Bola's rival had her ear in her mouth for several minutes while Bola bled profusely. Sympathisers who went in to separate the fight wondered where Bola's ear could have been, not knowing that the other woman had it in her mouth. They were shocked when she later spit out the bloodied ear and stepped on it. 

Bola was however rushed to the hospital where the doctors battled on end to stitch back the severed ear to no avail. The other lady has since been in police custody since her arrest...

An angry Chinese woman dostroys an ATM machine with her bare hands after she couldn’t withdraw money from it. 

The angry lady drew alot of attention from passerby who were amazed for destroying the machine in a shopping mall. While some took photos of her ATM rage, the woman kept mumbling to herself and pounding on the machine. 

A source reported:

She also mumbled to herself that the ATM was her friend’s and that it’s was okay for her to break it.

After dismantling the machine, she even stood there as if nothing had happened, but was then taken to the police station once police arrived. 

At that time, the woman’s manner of speaking and bearing both seemed not quite normal, so employees did not go forward to stop her, and only called the police as well as notify the bank to come and deal with the situation.

According to Chinasmack, the police reached her family in Guangxi through her mobile phone, and the party on the other end claimed to be the woman’s younger brother and said on the phone that his sister suffers from mental problems:

"She’s like everyone else when she has her medication, but if she doesn’t take it, then she’ll have an episode. When that happens, she won’t even know what she’s doing"

Shilong Police state that they preliminarily suspect the woman suffers from mental problems and have already taken her to the a mental for examination, and are awaiting a diagnosis before they process with the case further. More pics after the cut....

Wife Discovers Husband Of 17 Years Was Married To Another Woman On Facebook

                    55 year-old woman, Yvonne Gibney, discovered via Facebook that her husband of 17 years, Maurice, was secretly married to another woman and had spent a whopping £45,000 pounds on the lavish wedding, thereby committing bigamy, a situation that is seen as a serious crime in the United Kingdom.

Yvonne was shocked and hurt when she saw her husband and another woman kissing on their wedding day and putting up the photo on the social media.

According to Mirror.co.uk, Yvonne Gibney had been married to globe-trotting oil contractor, Maurice Gibney, for the best part of two decades, but it was only when she checked Facebook and saw photographs of Mr Gibney, 49, dressed in a wedding suit and cuddling teacher, Suzanne Prudhoe, that she learned that her husband had married another woman.

The mother of two soon discovered that her husband had not only married again during an expensive ceremony surrounded by palm trees in Oman but he had actually tied the knot 11 months earlier.

She learned that his family who were told that they were divorced, had also attended the wedding held at the British Embassy in the Arab state, and that her mother-in-law had walked her husband down the aisle.

She then hunted around for more information about the lavish ceremony, before going to police with evidence of his bigamous marriage.

The father of three, who lives and works as a senior contractor for Oman Oil, pleaded guilty to bigamy at Wirral Magistrates' Court and was handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years.

In an emotional statement read out in court, Mrs Gibney revealed that in the run-up to the bigamous wedding, her husband had even cheated on her at Christmas when she had flown out to see him in Oman.

He falsely claimed he had to go away 'on business' - but instead he flew back to the the UK to be with Miss Prudhoe.

Mrs Gibney said: 

I loved him unconditionally and believed that love was reciprocated. I simply don't have the words to effectively convey the pain and hurt and sense of betrayal. I have to accept that my husband was unfaithful emotionally and physically for a prolonged period of time.

Earlier, Mrs Gibney told the court she had met her husband when she was deployed to Nigeria almost two decades ago. 

But unknown to her, over the years Gibney had spun a web of lies claiming that he had divorced her, telling his family and Miss Prudhoe they had kept the split secret for the sake of their children.

He also had claimed Mrs Gibney was 'crazy' and had urged his family not to have any contact with them.

27-Year-Old Iranian Woman Hanged For Killing 'Man Who Tried To Rape Her' In Iran

27 year old Reyhaney Jabbari, was executed today October 25th by hanging in Iran 7 years after she killed a man that she claimed had attempted to rape her. Reyhaney was sentenced to death in 2009 for the stabbing death of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence officer.

 

A court ruled that she killed Morteza on purpose because she had bought the knife two days before she stabbed him in the back with it. In her defence, Reyhaney said she'd stabbed the man out of self defence. The court overruled her claims and sentenced her to death, a ruling which was upheld by Iran's Supreme court.

The execution was carried out today after the victim's family refused to pardon Reyhaney or accept money from her family. Many human rights bodies including Amnesty International had over the years called on Iran's judiciary to halt the execution but they went ahead with it. Her mother confirmed it, saying Reyhaney was hanged in a Tehran prison very early this morning. Rest in peace

22-Year Old Slices Off Own Penis Because His Girl Frd Told Him He Is Bad In Bed

                        22 year old Macedonia man, Oliver Ilic, decided to show his girlfriend that he is man enough by cutting off his own penis because the lady told him he is bad/not good in bed.

Metro News, said the jilted lover has chopped off his genitals as he could not stay without his girlfriend after she dumped him because he could not perform in bed to her satisfaction, so the best option was for him to cut off that annoying appendage and it into the bin.

He is alleged to have told doctors that he had a small instrument which could not satisfy his babe and therefore he had to do away with it.

Oliver contacted emergency services when he could not stop the bleeding and was taken to hospital in the east Macedonian town town of Kocani.

Police searched his house and discovered the severed organ in a bin after it had been cut off with a single swipe from a razor blade which was also lying in the bin.

Doctors were initially unable to re-attach his penis but he was then transferred to the capital, Skopje, where it was reunited with his body following five hours of surgery.

Doctors said it is still too early to know if the operation would be a success and if it would ever function properly again...

15 year old Jaylen Fryberg (pictured above), a member of the Tulalip Native-American tribe, entered his school cafeteria yesterday morning around 10.41 am, walked over to a table, pulled out a gun and shot five students. He killed one, injured four, who are in critical condition at the hospital, and then he took his own life by shooting himself in the head with his father's gun.

The incident which lasted for about two minutes took place at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Washington D.C yesterday. See photos from the chaos that ensued and the full story after the cut...

This is the teacher who is said to have heroically accosted a 15-year-old boy as he fired bullets across his high school cafeteria. Megan Silberberger ran into the room after hearing Jaylen Fryberg shoot dead one classmate and critically wound four others.

Students dived for cover and others fled but as the popular teenager stopped to reload his gun, witnesses told KIRO-TV, Silberberger walked over and grabbed his arm.

In a two-second struggle, Fryberg is said to have pointed the gun at her before shooting himself dead.

The shocking account suggests Silberger, a first year social services teacher and part-time soccer player, may have prevented a massacre at the Washington school.

Nonetheless, hundreds of students, teachers and parents piled into a nearby church tonight for a candlelit vigil as the community reels in shock struggling to cope with the tragic loss of life as four teenagers are treated in hospital

Erick Cervantes, the first student who called 911 during the attack, told KIRO-TV: 'I believe [Megan Silberger] is actually the real hero.

'She's the one that intercepted him with the gun. He tried either reloading or tried aiming at her. She tried moving his hand away and he tried shooting and shot himself in the neck. It started off with an argument, but then I looked back and there was just gunshots and just people falling down. She heard the gunshots first and she came in running through the door, right next to it. It wasn't [a] wrestle. She just grabbed his arm, and it lasted like two seconds, and I heard another shot.'

That shot, he says, was the one that killed Fryberg. The shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School lasted just two minutes between 10.41am and 10.43am on Friday. 

The horrific attack has left the entire community reeling as friends described Fryberg, a member of the Tulalip Native-American tribe, as a 'well-respected, great guy'.

Authorities are now scrambling to determine a possible cause for the shooting as the four survivors fight for their lives in hospital.

Pupils have told news stations Fryberg was suspended from the football team in recent weeks after being involved in a fight over 'racist' comments.

New York Recorded First Case Of Ebola Virus

33 year old US doctor based in New York Dr. Craig Allen Spencer (pictured above) who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea has become the first person in the city to test positive for Ebola. He had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea, and returned to NYC on October 17th. He tested positive to the virus the Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan New York yesterday October 23rd.

He and three other people he had contact with in recent days, including his girlfriend have been placed in isolation at the Bellevue hospital. He's officially the 4th person to test positive on American soil.

Many are alarmed at this new case due to the population of the city but the New York mayor while confirming the recent case said New Yorkers have nothing to fear

"We want to state at the outset, there is no reason for New Yorkers to be alarmed. Ebola is a very hard disease to contract." Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
