Residents of the building have been invited by the police for interrogations but the state police public relations officer could not confirm any arrest,the Nigerian Tribune reports..
The skeleton of Yussuf was found in his one-room and a parlour apartment at 46, Jaiyesinmi Street, Aga area of Ikorodu.
The landlady had invited the deceased man’s elder brother to come and witness the forceful opening of the apartment, when the skeleton was discovered. The elder brother, Basiru Yussuf, who later reported the incident at Ikorodu divisional police station, had gone to the scene with the hope of evacuating his younger brother’s belonging from the apartment.
Lagos Metro gathered that many residents of the area had for many months thought that the deceased had absconded from the area. A resident of Aga area of Ikorodu, who spoke with Lagos Metro under the condition of anonymity, described the death as mysterious.
“I was surprised at the discovery. I don’t t know how the residents would not observe that a body was decomposing in that house. The police have invited some people in connection with the incident but the death is still a mystery,” the resident said.
The Lagos police image maker also stated that policemen from the police station had visited the scene, taken photographs and examined the scene of incident.
She assured that the police in the state would properly investigate the incident after the autopsy.
