She said that her decision to contest on YPP’s platform was informed by the party’s grassroots support and ideology. The statement added that the political structure of her late husband, Prince Abubakar Audu would be incorporated into the party to drive the vision of the state.

The pastor, David Diri, according to the RRS on its verified Facebook page, is a suspected serial scammer who parades himself as a pastor to dupe unsuspecting females of huge amounts of money.

There was pandemonium at River Bank Hotel in Ijora-Badia area of Lagos State as a 60-year-old man, Raji Adio, died while having sex with his lover who fled the facility after making the discovery. 

The woman disappeared from the hotel premises before the cleaner, John Chuks could alert his co-workers after he saw her running. The hotel manager who left the premises to attend a morning devotion at the Revelation Church opposite the hotel was quickly alerted before the incident was reported to the police.

The manager stated, “Both Adio and the woman were regular customers, so on the day of the incident, they both came around 8am to book a room for short-time rest. Immediately payment was made, I issued a receipt to Adio and gave him the key to one of the rooms. Afterwards, I left the reception to attend a morning devotion at a church opposite the hotel. Almost all members of staff of the hotel attend the devotion before business will commence for the day.

“As the devotion was going on, Chuks suddenly rushed to inform us that he suspected that something strange had happened because of the way a woman rushed out from one of the rooms and ran out of the hotel. We quickly chased after her, but it was too late.

“If someone was at the reception, the woman wouldn’t have escaped, because the receptionist would have asked for Adio when the woman was leaving. But the cleaner, who was fortunate to have seen her while running away, came to call us instead of chasing after her to prevent her escape.

“When we went back to the room to find out what had happened, we saw Adio lying naked on the bed and on close examination, we realised that he was dead. We also found the tissue paper that both of them used during their romp on the floor, while the man’s clothes were on the table. I suspect that the woman quickly dressed up and rushed out of the room after Adio died.”

Chuks said the incident was reported at the Ijora-Badia Police Division and detectives were sent to investigate the matter as all effort to uncover the woman's identity and whereabout was unsuccessful. 

“I was coming downstairs from one of the rooms and wanted to go and meet my colleagues at the church. But on my way downstairs, I saw the woman running out of one of the rooms on the second floor; so, I rushed to the church to alert my colleagues and we started searching for the woman but did not find her.

“I don’t know if it was a tricycle that she boarded or a motorcycle, but I searched for her everywhere but did not find her. The woman is slim and tall, but no one could pinpoint her whereabouts. So, when I got back, I was told that Ekezie had gone to report to the police and police personnel later visited the hotel to investigate the matter" he said.

Ekezie who reported the incident to the police was reportedly detained but released on condition of visiting the police station daily as part of the investigation. Punch reported that the Lagos police spokesperson, Bala Elkana, said a manhunt had been launched for the woman, adding that investigation was ongoing to determine if Adio died while having sex or if something else was responsible for his death.

“We started by deploying our homicide detectives in the crime scene; they cordoned off the place to see if there was anything that could aid the investigation, because we are not sure if it is murder or not.

“So, we can’t conclude from the onset and that is why we have commenced investigation into the matter and launched a manhunt for the woman. We are leaving no stone unturned to arrive at the truth about what actually happened, because we want to ascertain if it was a death caused by him having sex or whether something else was responsible for his death; so, we are still investigating" he said.

N400m Fraud Case: Court Must Invite Jonathan To Give Evidence –Olisa Metuh

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday insisted that the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Justice O.E. Abang should invite former President Goodluck Jonathan to give evidence in his ongoing trial.

Metuh is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC alongside his company, Destra Investment on seven-count charges, bordering on money laundering to the tune of N400 million, which he allegedly received from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, in 2014 under Sambo Dasuki as national security adviser without justification.

Metuh while on cross-examination today, said “The payment of N400 million was made by the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.


This is because I made a presentation and he informed that he will make funds available for the prosecution of that national assignment and he even called me to tell me that the N400 million has been paid. I do not expect the President to be an agent of any individual or organ of his office, but I do know that he has a lot of aides that handle matters relating to different aspects.”

Metuh reminded the court that he applied for Jonathan to be subpoenaed to give evidence concerning his claim that he was authorized by the ex-president but that the court ignored him, restating that the court should subpoenaed Jonathan to come and give evidence in the matter.

He revealed during cross-examination, that Mike Ozekhome, the then lawyer to Jonathan told him that he needed to pay about N1.2 billion for Jonathan’s transportation and to guarantee his security, before he could come to the court.

“I am just hearing for the first time that the former president denied knowing me and had no business with me. I am not in a position to confirm or deny about the opposition of his excellency to be a witness; I can only confirm that he insisted that I should pay N1.2 billion,” Metuh said.

At this juncture the prosecution tendered the certified copies of the motion document filed by Ozekhome and tendered the motion filed on October 27, 2017 by him on behalf of the former President Jonathan, seeking to set aside the subpoena as well as the affidavit in support of the said motion and written address.

The prosecution also tendered a counter-affidavit of the senior counsel, made on October 30, 2017 but filed on the November 1, 2017.

Justice Abang adjourned the matter to Thursday, September, 26, 2019 for conclusion of arguments and admissibility of documents and for continuation of trial. It will also on the new adjournment date, consider the need to further adjourn the matter to September, 30, October 2,3, and 4, 2019, for continuation of trial.

Ebonyi State Lawmaker Suspended For Taking Too Many Pictures

Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Tuesday suspended the member representing Afikpo North East constituency in the Assembly, Mrs Maria Ude Nwachi aka Afikpo Chic, for alleged gross misconduct.

Mrs. Nwachi was accused of allegedly posing as public photographer. The motion for he suspension was moved by the Leader of the House, Hon. Joseph Nwobasi.

The House said Nwachi have refused to heed earlier warnings by the Assembly to desist from being a photographer in the state. Nwachi, a former Minority Leader, according to the house by her actions has brought disrespect and dishonesty to herself and the Assembly by by posing as public photographer.

She was therefore suspended for 14 days pending the outcome of investigations on the allegations leveled against her by a special committee constituted by the House to investigate the allegations.

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Dahiru Musdapher, has died in a London hospital. Musdapher was 75 years old.

He was appointed as the CJN by former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2011.

Olusegun Obasanjo Ask Buhari Not To Run For President In 2019

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday, in a blistering and excoriating 13-page statement has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

Mr. Obasanjo, in a special press statement entitled, “The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement” said Mr Buhari has performed far below expectation and should honourably “dismount from the horse” to join the league of the country’s former leaders.

Mr Obasanjo, a two-term president on the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP), said he feels disappointed by Mr Buhari, whom he supported during the 2015 election over then incumbent and candidate of his former party, Goodluck Jonathan.

Likening the state of the nation to lice-invested clothes, he said the country’s fingernails is stained with blood as it tries to kill the lice by pressing them in-between two fingernails. According to him, in other to make sure that our fingernails remains blood-free we must do what it takes rid our clothes of lice.

While thanking Mr Buhari for the effort of his administration in rolling back the Boko Haram insurgency and his fight against corruption, Mr Obasanjo said Mr Buhari has ultimately failed in other areas where he had thought he would be efficient.
