Jessica Allen, a surrogate mum who thought she was pregnant with twin boys was stunned when she gave birth to her own child alongside the couple’s son.
Jessica, 31, was a surrogate for a Chinese couple and gave birth to the boys in December, 2016. She did not see the babies when they were born but was stunned when she was sent a photo from their mum a month later.
The mother-of-two immediately spotted the boys were not identical twins and one was much lighter than the other. DNA tests confirmed one of the boys was Jessica’s biologicial son.
Medics told the stunned new mum that after she became pregnant with the couple’s child, she ovulated again and conceived another baby with her own husband, Wardell Jasper.
Most women stop producing eggs when they are pregnant, so double pregnancies – knowns as superfetation – are extremely rare. Jessica and her husband, from San Bernardino, California, now have custody of their son. 📸: Jessica Allen
