I Can’t Marry Because I Swore A Blood Oath With My Ex – Actress Sylvia Ukaatu
Nollywood actress, Sylvia Ukaatu, in a chat with Sunnewsonline has revealed her only regret in life, saying she took a blood oath with a former lover when she was just 18.
The Actress said;
“It all started when I was 18 years old. I fell in love, deeply in love. I was so carried away at that tender age. I was lured into taking a blood oath with my then lover.
I never knew the repercussions behind such move. I was young, naive and in love. We played along. I was happy. I was eager to settle down. Then love became sour. I tried to walk away.
I begged to be freed but the guy refused, so I kept to myself and started living life to the fullest. Even when he travelled out of the country, I had so many failed relationships without knowing what was behind it.
Suitors were coming, but on the day of introduction, they would cancel without explanation. I waited for many years for him to come back. But he never did. I desperately wanted to start a family, but that wasn’t forthcoming.
I tried so many relationships but they all failed. The guy finally came back last year and we spoke at length. I told him we should break the oath if he’s no longer interested in marrying me, but he ignored me.
Then, a few months ago, my brother called me and said I should go and search for my fiancé on Facebook, that the guy just got married. I quickly rushed to Facebook and checked.
I was shocked to discover that truly he just got married, but I laughed it over. Now, I can still feel the pains deep inside my heart. I want to warn the young ones out there.
Love is not enough for blood oath. The guy deceived and used me. I ignorantly allowed myself to be caged for years. Let the youths learn from my experience.”

Ghana Arrests Three Men Involved In Coup Attempt

Ghana Arrests Three Men Involved In Coup Attempt
The Ghanaian government says it has arrested three alleged suspected coup plotters who were involved in a failed plot to “destabilise” its government.

The arrested men are Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, Ezor Kafui, and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu.

The government said the men belong to a group known as ”Take Action Ghana (TAG)” whose aim was to undermine the affairs of the country.

The Ghanaian government had announced how a group attempted to overthrow its government in a statement published on its Twitter handle.

The government posted a statement titled ‘ Security agencies foil attempt to create instability in Ghana” on its Twitter handle.

The government, also in its statement, listed some of the weapons recovered to include six pistols, three smoke grenades, 22 IEDs, two AK47 magazines and one long knife.

Aside from the listed weapons, the government also said computer equipment, such as voice recorder and a Ghanaian passport were among the items seized from the group.

According to the government, the stash of weapons and ammunition was found following 15 months of surveillance.

The government also said the group was aiming to recruit and radicalise a large number of young people.

”But this was a guise for their intention to build a support base of youth, and radicalise them against the political authority in Ghana,” the government said.

The government said one of the alleged coup plotters, who is a doctor, was alleged to have started procuring weapons and improvised explosive devices.

The statement said they procured some chemicals that were to be used to concoct weapons from a hospital.

The government has also accused military personnel of being involved in plotting to obtain weapons.

The Ghanaian government is expected to go to the polls for its presidential and parliamentary elections next year.

APC Files Counter Appeal Against PDP At Supreme Court

APC Files Counter Appeal Against PDP At Supreme Court
The All Progressives Congress has filed motions challenging sections of the September 11 presidential election tribunal judgement, and seeking the nullification of evidence proffered by the PDP and accepted by the tribunal.

In a cross appeal filed in an apparent reaction to the PDP’s earlier application before the Supreme Court Tuesday, the APC asked the apex court to disregard a number of evidence and witnesses noted for the PDP at the Court of Appeal.

Following the September 11 decision affirming the election of President Muhammadu Buhari, the PDP on Tuesday filed its request before the apex court challenging the decision.

The PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, said the Court of Appeal panel that heard their petition erred in law when it ruled that President Buhari did not need to submit an actual certificate before INEC as part of documents in his CF001.

The PDP also said the presidential tribunal erred when it ruled that the PDP did not provide sufficient evidence to back its claim that Mr Buhari did not attend a secondary school among other issues.

But in a counter application filed on Tuesday, the APC asked the Supreme Court to reconsider the decision of the election tribunal to accept evidence proffered by the prosecution witness numbers 40, 59 and 60.

The witnesses whose appearances the APC is challenging are Mr Abubakar’s spokesperson, Segun Showunmi, whose appearance at the tribunal resulted in the PDP’s presentation of a video evidence containing statements made by a INEC official from Bayelsa, Mike Igini, who said that INEC had planned to transmit results to a central server.

The other two witnesses are the witness number 59 and 60: David Njorga was cited by the petitioners as a data expert, and Joseph Gbenga, described by the PDP as a data analyst.

The APC also wants the court to remove at least 42 paragraphs from the PDP’s documents.

The request made by the APC is similar to an initial request brought by the party challenging the PDP’s petition at the tribunal.

The APC application was brought by its lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi.

The Supreme Court is yet to fix a date for hearing of the appeals.

Mr Abubakar and the PDP seek the nullification of the February election won by President Muhammadu Buhari and the declaration of Mr Abubakar as president-elect.

The presidential election tribunal had earlier ruled in favour of Mr Buhari and the APC.

17-Year-Old Model Stabbed To Death 189 Times By Envious Sister (Photos)
A woman is to face trial for the brutal murder of her naked 17-year-old model sister whose eyes were gouged out and ears hacked off.

Stefania Dubrovina was stabbed 189 times in a frenzied attack in the Russian city St Petersburg.

Her sister Elizaveta, 22, is accused of hacking the model to death in an 'envious' drug-filled rage, and faces up to 25 years in jail if convicted.

Elizaveta was detained for the horrific killing in 2016 but was sent for compulsory psychiatric treatment.

She is now deemed fit to face trial which is due to start soon.

She strongly denies the murder charge and new reports say she will instead accuse the dead girl's 'lover' Alexey Fateev, now 44, in whose flat her sister died.

However, the prosecuting authorities say the man is a witness and not under any suspicion.

Elizaveta, aged 19 at the time of the killing, is charged with 'murder with particular cruelty'.

Fateev has denied on Russian TV that he had anything to do with Stefania's death.

He told how he found Stefania's massacred naked body after returning from a shop where he bought wine.

He detained Elizaveta to stop her fleeing before handing her over to police, he said.

Foreign Criminal Gang Out To Dupe Nigeria Of billions of Dollar, Buhari Tells World Leaders

Foreign Criminal Gang Out To Dupe Nigeria Of billions of Dollar, Buhari Tells World Leaders
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in New York alerted World Leaders on attempts by international criminal groups to cheat Nigeria of billions.

The president raised the alarm while presenting the country’s National Statement as the fifth speaker on the first day of the General Debate during the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA74).

According to him, the present Nigerian government is facing the challenges of corruption head-on.

He said: “We are giving notice to international criminal groups by the vigorous prosecution of the P&ID scam attempting to cheat Nigeria of billions of dollars.”

While holding social media outlets responsible for fuelling major crimes such as mass killings, Buhari called on major tech companies to be alive to their responsibilities.

He also declared that, “no threat is more potent than poverty and exclusion,” noting that, “they are the foul source from which common criminality, insurgency, cross-border crimes, human trafficking and its terrible consequences draw their inspiration.”

The Nigerian leader described poverty “as one of the greatest challenges facing our world.”

Buhari noted that, “its eradication is an indispensable requirement for achieving sustainable development,” while highlighting his administration’s efforts to overcome the challenge.

Nancy Pelosi Announces Formal Impeachment Inquiry Of Donald Trump

Nancy Pelosi Announces Formal Impeachment Inquiry Of Donald Trump
Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday that the House would initiate a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump, charging him with betraying his oath of office and the nation’s security by seeking to enlist a foreign power to tarnish a rival for his own political gain.

Ms. Pelosi’s declaration, after months of reticence by Democrats who had feared the political consequences of impeaching a president many of them long ago concluded was unfit for office, was a stunning turn that set the stage for a history-making and exceedingly bitter confrontation between the Democrat-led House and a defiant president who has thumbed his nose at institutional norms.

“The actions taken to date by the president have seriously violated the Constitution,” Ms. Pelosi said in a brief speech invoking the nation’s founding principles. Mr. Trump, she added, “must be held accountable no one is above the law.”

She said the president’s conduct revealed his “betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”

Ms. Pelosi’s decision to push forward with the most severe action that Congress can take against a sitting president could usher in a remarkable new chapter in American life, touching off a constitutional and political showdown with the potential to cleave an already divided nation, reshape Mr. Trump’s presidency and the country’s politics, and carry heavy risks both for him and for the Democrats who have decided to weigh his removal.

Obasanjo Was Behind My Impeachment As Governor Of Oyo State Over His 3rd Term - Ladoja

Obasanjo Was Behind My Impeachment As Governor Of Oyo State Over His 3rd Term - Ladoja
Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the former Governor of Oyo state has revealed that former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo was behind his impeachment in 2006 after he opposed his third term agenda.

The impeached Oyo Governor on Tuesday September 24, revealed that Obasanjo threatened to reduce him to “nobody” for rejecting his third term bid and also rejected appeals by prominent Nigerians, including a late Yoruba leader, Pa Emmanuel Alayande, and a former Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Bola Ajibola to suspend the impeachment process.

Recalling how he got into politics after funding the election of late Chief Kolapo Ishola as the governor of the state in the Third Republic, the 75-year-old Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland said all the challenges he faced in politics helped shape his life.

“There are successes and failures.  There are triumphs and disappointments. And in the long run, I will say that I’m grateful to God that I can claim more triumphs than disappointments.

“There was one that actually made the impeachment possible.  It was Obasanjo’s third term.”

He said, “I also made a mistake. When I heard about the third term, I asked Baba (Obasanjo) if it was true.  He said it was not true and I said thank God.

“I said,  ‘Baba, if not I would have said maybe you don’t know God. I said God made it possible for you to be President for eight years and I said this was a presidency you were not qualified for.’”

Ladoja said when Obasanjo insisted that he was qualified and he told him,  “In a civilian government, the Presidency is meant for politicians and you are not a politician. They came to call you.”

Revealing that Obasanjo never liked the truth he dished out to him, he said he got a call that evening from Ogun State former Governor Gbenga Daniel who told him to come early for a council of state meeting in Abuja in order to apologise to the former President.

“When I got home in the evening, the Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, called me and said ‘ governor general , you came to Ota’, I said yes that I came to discuss with Baba (Obasanjo). He asked what I discussed with Obasanjo. I said I discussed the third term. He (Daniel) said, ‘ oh God, you have pinched Baba on his sore. Baba said he would turn you to nobody.’

However after he turned up to apologize to Obasanjo who he met with a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Oyewole  Fasawe, he said he was not allowed to talk.

“Baba didn’t allow me to talk.  He said I had  told you Rashidi, I would turn you to nobody. He was going and Fasawe was running after him, trying to tell him he shouldn’t have said that and I answered him, ‘if God permits you sir .”

He also revealed that he begged Obasanjo on January 10, 2006 in Abeokuta with Gbenga Daniel, an ex-governor of Ondo State Olusegun Agagu, an ex-governor of Osun State Olagunsoye Oyinlola, but their plea was struck off.

He said, “We didn’t take Fayose (then Ekiti State governor) along because he was Baba’s son.  Agagu, Oyinlola,  Daniel and I went to him. They (others)  knelt down so I had to kneel down too. Oyinlola is a very good orator.  He presented a very brilliant case.  Agagu supported him.  Daniel and I didn’t talk.  He (Obasanjo) said ‘well, Rashidi, go and resign,’ I said ‘no.’ he said why and I asked, ‘why should I resign?’
After being told that nobody could get two-thirds in the House of Assembly to impeach Ladoja, Obasanjo reportedly said ‘two-thirds my foot and got up.’ We were talking, when Bola Ajibola (a former attorney-general of the federation) came in and said ‘what is wrong with you people, you are leaders in your own right. He (Ajibola) said, ‘I have gone to see Segun (Obasanjo) to plead that he should leave you in peace because you have not done anything wrong. That in fact, everybody is praising your government.’

He also said the ex-President rejected Alayande's plea not to remove him from government.

"Baba (Obasanjo)  came to Ibadan to see Baba Alayande on his birthday, I went with him, Baba Alayande also pleaded with him but before 7 0’clock on the 12th (January, 2006),  I was called that the people were coming with police escort to come and do the impeachment. When we got the impeachment notice, we went to court.

We told the chief judge then that the people did not  have the mandatory two-thirds" he added.
