A prisoner has s3xually assaulted his own nine-year-old daughter during jail visits, it emerged. The inmate, 45, is accused of groping and molesting the little girl during apparently supervised visits at Barlinnie prison.
The alleged s3x attacks are believed to have happened over a two-month period at the Glasgow jail last year.
It is thought the alarm was raised when prison staff suspected inappropriate behaviour and reviewed CCTV footage, before informing police.
The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons is expected to stand trial this month. A source told the Record the alleged attacks took place in the prison’s family area, which is supervised by wardens.
The source said: "While in Barlinnie, he was allowed to have frequent visits by his family, including his own daughter who is aged about 10-ish and is in primary school.
"During the visits, he had access to his daughter and is accused of s3xual contact with her."
He continued: "The prison service, who are s **** ing themselves in case this gets reported, reported this to the police who investigated it. "They charged him back in December 2015 – just before he was due to be released on parole."
The inmate, a computer expert who lived in the west of Scotland, was jailed for 16 months last April. The nature of those offences cannot also be reported for legal reasons.
