Mom Who Lost Her Son And Husband In Nice Terror Attack Recounts Ordeal

A Texas woman who lost her husband and only child in the Nice terror attack while on a family vacation has given her first interview over the horror of losing them.

Kim Copeland was with her family watching the fireworks celebrating Bastille Day last month when a truck came rampaging through the crowd, killing 84 people, including her husband, Sean, and the couple's 11-year-old son, Brodie.

'All of a sudden, I hear my husband scream, ''Watch out!'' and I look up and see a big white truck headed straight towards us. Copeland said she immediately ran to her son, but he was in a 'bad condition. I knew he was gone,' she said in tears.

Her husband lasted a few hours but later died. Copeland said he spent the entire time asking about Brodie.

That's when the reality of what happened kicked in.

'We were that family that was all over (the news),' she said.

''Two Americans have died'',' and (I was like) that's us. That's our two Americans.

'It was a nightmare. It is a nightmare.'

Copeland took a photo of her son buying candy just one minute before the truck came rampaging through.

Copeland said she is thankful for all the messages and tributes that have been sent in the wake of the tragedy.

She added that, while she hasn't replied to many, she has read them all.

She has now returned to the Texas home she shared with her husband and son, which she says has been the hardest part of the ordeal.

'This house that we built together that we wanted to live in forever is empty,' she said.
