Sad! Days After Journalist Was Shot Dead, Another Reporter Dies In Bayelsa (Photo)

Chris Ejim, Bayelsa state correspondent of New Telegraph newspaper, is dead. The death of Ejim, which occurred on Thursday evening, comes four days after that of Famous Giobaro, a journalist at Glory FM 97.1. in Yenagoa, capital of the state. Giobaro was shot dead at his residence.

Kola Oredipe and Chris Eze, chairman and secretary of the Bayelsa council of Federated correspondents chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), mourned both men.

The chapel noted that Ejim, a graduate of mass communication from The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra, “was a strong and committed member of the chapel”.

His death was described as “shocking and devastating”.

“Late Ejim who previously worked with Thisday Newspaper in Lagos and Nigerian Compass, was a fearless, frank and bold journalist who would resist any form of intimidation from any quarter,” the chapel said in a statement.

“The entire leadership and members of the chapel extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ejim’s family in Anambra and pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss.

“He was aged 49 years and a native of Ezira community in Orumba North Local government area of Anambra.”
