A woman who fell to her death from a balcony on a pal's hen do had celebrated her wedding just months before the tragedy. Kirsty Maxwell, 27, died after plunging 10 floors from a hotel in Benidorm in the early hours of Saturday morning. A British man has been arrested.
The newlywed was enjoying a hen do with 35 pals before tragedy struck at 8am on Saturday.
Sources claimed Kirsty returned to her room at the apartment block in an area of the seaside resort known as Little England around 4am that morning but wandered off around two hours later.
Dressed but barefoot she somehow ended up in a room directly above hers where five male British tourists were sleeping.
Investigators have suggested she could have ended up there by accident after becoming disorientated when she allegedly consumed alcohol and drugs the previous night.
One of the men who is understood to have opened the door to her and was said to have been ‘near her’ when the incident happened was arrested and was tonight still being questioned by police.
Sources close to the inquiry said the arrest was a ‘precautionary measure’ and there was no evidence pointing to the woman’s death being the result of a crime.
It is believed the man was arrested because his version of events did not match that given by the four friends he was with.
Investigators have found no evidence to suggest the woman who died knew any of the five men.
It is understood 14 people - friends of hers staying above, next door to her and below her as well as the five British men in the room above her - were taken to a police station in Benidorm after the tragedy to make statements.
